On Wednesday, January 31st, 23 new engineers and one cand.tech graduated from Aalborg University Esbjerg. On Friday February 9th, 65 graduates from different study directions within engineering and natural sciences followed in Aalborg, representing the departments Electronic Systems, BUILD, Energy, Chemistry and Bioscience, Mathematical Sciences, and Materials and Production.

The graduates are well equipped to tackle the major challenges of the present day.

All around us in Denmark and the world, we see a significant technological development within sustainable energy, defense technology, biofuels, new food types and so on. Our graduates come with the necessary skills to lead this development.

Vice-dean for Education at the Faculty of Engineering and Science Olav Geil

Olav Geil is convinced that the graduates will prove attractive to potential employers, and he notes that several of them have already been employed in exciting companies before their graduation.

"It is my hope and wish that the graduates will make good use of what they have learned at a university widely recognized as one of the world's best engineering universities, and that they face a bright future both professionally and privately," concludes Olav Geil.

Two Siemens grants

At the graduation ceremony in Aalborg, two grants from the Siemens Foundation were awarded:

  • David Gulyás, 9th semester student on the MSc in Engineering programme in Health Technology, together with Associate Professor Mads Jochumsen, Department of Health Science and Technology, received a grant to purchase an electric stimulator that can recreate movements in people with motoric disabilities as a result of cerebral palsy.

  • PhD student Peter Hede Broberg from the Department of Materials and Production received a grant together with associate professors Brian Lau Verndal Bak, Johnny Jakobsen, Lars Rosgaard Jensen, and Esben Lindgaard. The grant will be used to purchase a test stand for permeability characterization in connection with manufacturing tests of fiber-reinforced polymer materials.
